Nollywood actress and budding politician Eniola Badmus is currently facing heavy backlash after sharing photos that suggested she spoke at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
On her Instagram page, Eniola posted images of herself in what appeared to be a formal setting, claiming she had addressed UNGA on topics such as innovation, gender inclusion, and sustainable energy. She also mentioned attending the Future Africa Forum 2025 at The Africa Centre, powered by Afreximbank, describing it as an opportunity to connect with young African leaders.
Her caption read in part:
“Grateful to speak at #UNGA on innovation, gender inclusion & partnerships for a sustainable energy future… The conversations and connections built here are priceless.”
However, social media users quickly called her out, claiming the photos were not taken at the UN building but at the Nigerian Embassy in New York, popularly known as the Nigerian House.
Fans stormed her comment section with accusations of clout-chasing and exaggeration:
“This is the Nigerian Embassy in New York, not the UN building,” one user wrote.
“APC no go kill us,” another mocked.
“You carry Oraimo cord go UNGA,” someone joked.
“Where is your audience?” another asked sarcastically.
“US Embassy don turn UN?” a user added.
Some even claimed she was only trying to compete with fellow actresses like Funke Akindele and Laide Bakare.
The controversy has reignited online discussions about celebrities allegedly faking achievements for social media recognition. Eniola Badmus has yet to officially respond to the criticism.
