Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared how she earned her first ₦1 million in 1999 from her breakout role as Bisi in the classic TV series “I Need to Know.”
In a video shared on X, the actress revealed that her acting journey began in 1996, during which she faced several rejections while playing minor roles. Her persistence paid off three years later when she landed the major role that changed her life.
“I made that around 1999. I started my career from like 1996, playing waka pass roles, going for auditions, getting a lot of ‘nos.’ Then I got one big yes with I Need to Know, and that’s how I got my first ₦1 million,” she recalled.
Akindele also shared how she spent the money, saying the first person she informed was her mother, who advised her to pay her tithe before using any part of it.
“I paid my tithe, then I went to Yaba because I didn’t have shoes. I changed my wardrobe, shoes, bags, everything. The girl that had no shoes yesterday has today,” she added proudly.
In another development, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has reportedly moved out of her husband Senator Ned Nwoko’s residence following allegations of domestic violence.
The report emerged after a viral video showed Regina in tears, lamenting about the state of her marriage. In the video, she was heard saying:
“In Ned Nwoko’s house I am nothing, but in my house I am a queen. I cannot stand the violence, it is too much.”
According to movie producer Stanley On-Top, who shared the clip, thugs allegedly sent by the senator attacked the actress, but her brothers intervened to protect her.
Sources close to Regina claim she has left her marital home to stay with her family for safety reasons.
