There is growing concern as hackers have reportedly broken into the mobile phones of Nigerian billionaires and best friends, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola.
According to insider reports, the attacks happened within the past week. While Otedola’s phone was hacked once, Dangote’s device was breached twice in just two days.
A source who spoke to TheCable confirmed that the hackers have started making financial demands. “The hackers are asking for money from both men,” the insider said.
At the moment, it remains unclear if Dangote and Otedola have fully regained control of their devices.
Both businessmen are known for their close friendship and often refer to each other as “brothers.” They have also worked together on major business moves. Recently, Otedola was present when Dangote announced plans to expand his refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day.
Femi Otedola, who is the author of the bestseller Making It Big, also strengthened his business portfolio this year by acquiring 64.87 million shares in First HoldCo Plc, worth ₦2.01 billion.
