Anthony Joshua Involved in Fatal Road Accident on Lagos–Ibadan Expressway

British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a tragic road traffic accident in Nigeria on Monday, which claimed the lives of two people.

The crash occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State when the vehicle Joshua was travelling in collided with a stationary truck. Joshua, who was a passenger at the time, sustained injuries, though they are not considered life-threatening. Emergency services responded promptly, but two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Joshua was taken for medical assessment and treated for his injuries.

The Lagos–Ibadan Expressway is one of Nigeria’s busiest and most accident-prone roads, frequently used by commercial vehicles and heavy trucks. Collisions involving stationary vehicles have been a recurring safety concern on the highway.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash, including why the truck was stationary and the events leading up to the collision. At this time, no wrongdoing has been attributed to Joshua, who was not driving the vehicle.

Joshua and his management team have not issued public statements regarding the incident, as inquiries are ongoing. The news has shocked the boxing community, with global attention focused on the tragic loss of life rather than Joshua’s non-serious injuries.

Further updates are expected once official investigations are completed and findings are released.
