Afrobeats superstar CKay has made history by becoming the first Nigerian solo artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify with his hit song “Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah).”
Originally released in 2019, the track gained global recognition two years later, largely due to its viral popularity on TikTok. This milestone not only cements CKay’s international influence but also makes him the first solo male African artist to achieve such a feat on the platform.
Reacting to the achievement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, CKay wrote:
“First solo Nigerian song to cross 1 billion streams. Grateful to God and the people involved in this historic success! Thank you for streaming.”
African Billion-Stream Milestones
While CKay is the first Nigerian solo artist to reach this mark, other African artists have also crossed the billion-stream milestone through collaborations or as lead artists, highlighting the growing global influence of African music.
This achievement underscores CKay’s rising prominence in the global music scene and the international appeal of Afrobeats.
