Pastor E.A. Adeboye Explains Why He No Longer Employs Female Secretaries

Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared the reason behind his decision to stop employing female secretaries. Speaking to his congregation, the respected cleric said the nature of his work often keeps him in the office late into the night, sometimes as late as 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.

Pastor Adeboye explained that to avoid any form of temptation, misunderstanding, or risk associated with being alone with a female staff member at such late hours, he decided to work only with male secretaries. He stressed that this decision was based on personal discipline and safety—not gender discrimination.

He went on to praise his former female secretaries, especially one who served him during his time at Ebute Meta. He described her as a “wonderful child of God” who worked with dedication and integrity. Despite their exemplary service, he said he had to make the change once his schedule demanded late-night office hours.

He illustrated the situation with an example: after a long day, finishing work at 2 a.m., it would be inappropriate for a female secretary to be alone with him, offering to help or make tea at such an hour.

Pastor Adeboye concluded by saying the decision was simply a precaution to avoid potential dangers and uphold his personal boundaries.
