Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has officially joined Spanish giants Atlético Madrid following his €40 million transfer from Italian club Atalanta. The La Liga club announced the signing on Monday, revealing that Lookman has signed a long-term contract until June 30, 2030. The deal reportedly includes an initial €35 million, with an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses.
Lookman was formally unveiled to the Spanish media, marking his first official appearance as an Atlético Madrid player. The club confirmed he will wear the No. 22 shirt as he begins his La Liga journey.
Speaking at the presentation, Lookman expressed excitement about joining the club:
“I'm very happy, truly, it's a huge club, a blessing for me, I'm incredibly proud.”
He also shared that his first hours with the team had been positive:
“I've already been with my teammates, it's been fantastic, they've given me a great welcome, I'm looking forward to sharing more training sessions.”
Lookman highlighted the honor of representing Nigeria and discussed his readiness to make personal sacrifices for the chance to play in Spain:
