The Nigerian Army has recovered at least 74 bodies of suspected terrorists following intensified military operations in the North-East region.
According to the Defence Headquarters, troops under Operation Hadin Kai carried out successful offensives, killing several terrorists and stopping a complex drone-assisted attack.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Michael Onoja, disclosed this in Abuja while providing updates on military activities between March 13 and March 19.
He explained that follow-up operations led to the recovery of 74 bodies and a large number of weapons, including 38 AK-47 rifles, three PKT machine guns, and an RPG launcher.
The troops also repelled a major attack in Mallam Fatori, located in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, killing several fighters, including top commanders.
In addition, the military stopped multiple infiltration attempts in Bama, Gujba, and Kaga local government areas. Security forces also arrested key logistics suppliers and informants linked to the terrorist groups.
Coordinated air and ground operations were further carried out in Baga, Damboa, Buratai, and Njimtilo, weakening the operational strength of ISWAP.
The military says the operations are part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the North-East.
