The Dangote Group has denied viral claims suggesting that the administration of Bola Tinubu earns revenue from every bag of cement sold in the country.
The allegation, which circulated widely on Facebook, was falsely attributed to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote. The post claimed that the government takes a significant portion of money from each bag of cement sold.
According to the viral message, it was alleged that the government collects a large amount per bag of cement and questioned how such funds are being used.
Reacting to the claim on Wednesday, the Dangote Group shared a screenshot of the post on X (formerly Twitter) and clearly labelled it as “Fake,” dismissing the information without further explanation.
The company’s response comes amid rising concerns over the spread of misinformation on social media, including the increasing use of AI-generated content to push false political narratives.
The clarification has since drawn attention online, with many users urging the public to verify information before sharing it.
