President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shu’aib Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
Aliyu replaces Ahmed Aminu, who stepped down from the position to pursue the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
In addition, the President approved the renewal of Sule Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria for a second and final term.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the appointments take immediate effect.
Onanuga described Shu’aib Aliyu as an experienced academic and administrator with a strong background in research and leadership. He noted that the appointment reflects the President’s commitment to strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and improving human capacity in Nigeria’s energy industry.
The President also urged Aliyu to use his experience to reposition the PTDF, enhance innovation, and support the growth of the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities.
