The Premier League has officially released the shortlist for the 2025/26 Player of the Year award, with eight top-performing stars making the final list.

The nominees were announced on the league’s official website on Thursday following their impressive performances throughout the season.

Other players nominated for the award include Antoine Semenyo, Erling Haaland of Manchester City F.C., Igor Thiago of Brentford F.C., Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United F.C., and Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest F.C..

Fans have been given until 12:00 BST on Monday, May 18, to vote for their preferred player. The final winner will be decided through a combination of public votes and selections made by a panel of football experts. The league is expected to announce the winner next week.

The Premier League also praised Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo for his outstanding performances this season. According to the league, the Black Stars attacker played a major role for both clubs he represented during the campaign after completing a January move from AFC Bournemouth to Manchester City F.C..

The league stated that Semenyo made an immediate impact at Manchester City, scoring three goals and providing one assist in just five Premier League appearances during February, a performance that earned him his first EA SPORTS Player of the Month award.

The statement also highlighted his versatility, noting that he impressed in several attacking positions, including both wings, forward roles, and midfield, while fitting smoothly into manager Pep Guardiola’s tactical system as Manchester City continue their battle with Arsenal in the title race.
