Rabiu Kwankwaso Denies Allegations of Working for President Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed rumours suggesting that he is working in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in an interview with Global TV on Wednesday night, Kwankwaso said the claims have been circulating since his time in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), but insisted they are false.

The comments come after allegations from Sanusi Bature, spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, who claimed that Kwankwaso had been indirectly supporting Tinubu’s political interests and even pushed for a meeting with the president.

Kwankwaso strongly rejected the accusations, saying only “foolish people” would believe such claims.

He stated:

“I think only foolish people would believe that. We are not working for anybody. We are only working for Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.”

While acknowledging a friendly relationship with President Bola Tinubu, Kwankwaso clarified that it does not translate into political alignment.

“Bola Tinubu has been my senior brother and good friend up till now. But that doesn’t mean we shall pull all our political ideologies together with him. He is doing his own and I am doing my own.”

The former governor maintained that he remains focused on his own political direction and is not involved in any arrangement to support the president’s re-election bid.
