Anwuli Amakom, the wife of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, has moved many to tears after an emotional tribute she wrote in honor of her husband surfaced online.
The touching message was published in the actor’s funeral programme pamphlet and has since gained widespread attention on social media, with many fans expressing sympathy and admiration for the deep love the couple shared.
In the tribute, Anwuli affectionately addressed her late husband as “Dada” and reflected on the special bond they built during their marriage. She recalled the unique pet names Alex often called her, including “Pookstar,” “Asa Ikuku,” and “Nwa.” According to her, those names became much more than simple nicknames, serving as symbols of their love and a place of comfort she now holds dearly.
She described Alex as her favorite person and someone whose presence brought warmth, happiness, and light into her life. One of the memories she cherished most was his habit of leaving handwritten love notes around their home, a gesture that constantly reminded her of his affection.
Anwuli revealed that since his passing, she still finds herself instinctively reaching out for him, only to remember that he is no longer physically present. She admitted that coming to terms with his absence has been one of the most difficult realities she has had to face.
Reflecting on their marriage, she described their relationship as one built on faith, prayer, and trust in God. She said they faced life's uncertainties together, supported one another through challenges, and remained committed to God's promises throughout their journey as husband and wife.
She also recalled one of the darkest moments in her life—the death of her mother. According to Anwuli, Alex stood firmly by her side during that painful period and became her greatest source of strength and comfort when she needed it most.
