Popular comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun has announced the postponement of his highly anticipated “AY Live Warri” show, which was originally scheduled to hold on June 12, 2026.
The entertainer explained that the decision was made due to the rising insecurity and uncertainty affecting several parts of Nigeria. He noted that it would not be appropriate to proceed with the event while many citizens are experiencing hardship and fear.
According to AY, the organisers felt it was important to stand in solidarity with families affected by insecurity, while also prioritising the safety of fans, performers, sponsors, and everyone involved in the event.
He added that holding the show under the current situation would not reflect the reality and concerns of Nigerians at this time.
However, AY assured fans that the event has not been cancelled completely. He said a new date will be announced once conditions improve.
The comedian also appreciated his supporters for their understanding and continued loyalty, expressing hope that the event would return bigger and better in the future.
In his statement, he said:
“At a time when many Nigerians are dealing with the painful effects of insecurity and uncertainty, we believe it is important to stand in solidarity with affected families and prioritise the safety of our audience and supporters.”
The announcement has drawn mixed reactions online, with many fans praising his decision while others expressed disappointment over the postponement.
Despite the setback, supporters remain optimistic about the return of the popular comedy event when security conditions improve.
