A Ghanaian woman was reportedly rushed to the hospital after collapsing when she discovered that her husband had secretly married a second wife without informing her.
The incident was shared on Facebook by a woman identified as Fati Aboni on Friday, June 26, 2026. According to her, the incident happened in Ashaiman, Ghana.
Fati revealed that while the husband's traditional marriage ceremony to his second wife was taking place elsewhere, he spent the entire day at home with his first wife, acting as though everything was normal. She said the couple happily spent time together, and the man never mentioned that he was taking another wife.
According to Fati, the first wife only found out about the marriage later through rumours. The shocking news reportedly caused her to lose consciousness, and she was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Reacting to the incident, Fati acknowledged that polygamy has become common in many Muslim families but urged men to be honest and respectful when deciding to marry another wife. She advised husbands to inform their first wives ahead of time or, if they cannot do so personally, to inform respected family elders who can break the news gently.
She stressed that allowing a wife to hear about such a life-changing event from outsiders instead of her husband could cause unnecessary emotional pain.
Fati also encouraged Muslim women to understand that polygamy is permitted in Islam and to prepare themselves mentally for the possibility of sharing their husbands with another wife. According to her, having that mindset may help reduce the emotional shock if such a situation arises.
She ended her post by wishing the newly married second wife a happy married life while praying for the speedy recovery of the first wife, whose condition has generated widespread reactions on social media.
