“I Didn’t Know What to Say” – Uzor Arukwe Explains His Silence After Alex Ekubo’s Death, Pays Emotional Tribute

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has opened up about why he chose not to publicly react immediately after the reported passing of fellow actor Alex Ekubo, saying the news left him deeply emotional and unable to find the right words.

In a heartfelt message shared online, Uzor said many people expected him to post photos, captions, or tributes on social media, but he simply could not express his grief at the time. According to him, some moments of loss are too painful for public display.

He revealed that his first reaction to the news was silence, explaining that grief affects people differently and not every goodbye needs to be announced online. He added that some emotions are better carried privately through prayers, memories, and personal reflection.

Reflecting on his relationship with Alex, Uzor recalled meeting him on a film set and described him as warm, respectful, and easygoing from the very beginning. He said those who knew Alex more closely often speak about his kindness and character, which he believes is what people will remember most.

According to him, beyond fame and success, a person’s true legacy is defined by how they treat others.

He wrote that his silence was not due to indifference, but because he was grieving deeply and needed time to process the loss.

“Silence was my first response to the news of your death because grief comes with silence too. Not every goodbye needs a post. Some are carried in prayer. Some are carried in memories. Some are carried in the heart.”

Uzor ended his tribute by thanking Alex for his kindness and impact, praying for his peaceful rest and expressing hope that his legacy will continue to live on.

The emotional message has since drawn reactions from fans, many of whom praised him for his sincerity and the thoughtful way he honoured the late actor.
