Nollywood actress Ufuoma McDermott has expressed deep sorrow over the death of her colleague, late actor Alex Ekubo, revealing that she carries a personal regret following his passing.

The actor was laid to rest on Thursday, June 18, in an emotional burial ceremony attended by several Nollywood stars and public figures, including IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Omoni Oboli, Ini Edo, KCee, E-Money, Cubana Chief Priest, Bimbo Ademoye, Kunle Remi, Ayo Makun, Yomi Casual, Nancy Isime, Funny Bone, and Pretty Mike, among others.

Taking to Instagram after his burial, Ufuoma McDermott shared a heartfelt tribute, recalling how she first met Alex through Uti Nwachukwu in Calabar in December 2010. She also revealed that she later realized she had gotten married on his birthday that same year.

Describing Alex as a “beautiful soul,” she said he was loved by everyone who encountered him, both closely and from a distance.

The actress admitted that she has been struggling with guilt, saying she has been “beating herself up” for weeks over not sending him a message just one day earlier.

She concluded her tribute by praying for him to rest in peace, calling him her “beautiful friend” and wishing him eternal rest.
