Kidnapped Kaduna Woman Reportedly Dies in Bandits’ Captivity

A woman identified as Naomi Makau has reportedly died while being held captive by bandits in Kaduna State after months in captivity.

According to reports, Naomi was abducted last year in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State during a bandit attack. Following her abduction, the kidnappers allegedly contacted her family several times and demanded a ransom in exchange for her freedom.

However, her parents were reportedly unable to meet the ransom demand due to financial difficulties, leaving the young woman in the custody of her captors for an extended period.

Sources claimed that while in captivity, Naomi was allegedly forced to cook for the bandits at their camp. It was also reported that the kidnappers threatened to force her into marriage with one of their members against her wishes.

The family was later informed that Naomi reportedly died while still in captivity on June 5, 2026. Details surrounding the cause of her death were not immediately available.

The tragic development has once again highlighted the growing security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom continues to affect many families and communities.

As of the time of the report, there was no official statement regarding the circumstances of her death, while concerns continue to grow over the fate of other victims still being held by criminal groups across the region.
