Update: Delta Police Arrest 4 Suspects Over Gun-Running Syndicate Linked to Killing of Young Artiste

The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a gun-running syndicate linked to a firearm found on upcoming artiste, Oghenemine Ogidi, who was extrajudicially killed by a police officer in Effurun local government area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, disclosed this in a statement released on Monday, June 8. He revealed that the breakthrough followed an intensive, intelligence-led investigation sparked by the recovery of a Beretta pistol at a motor park in the Uvwie Local Government Area on May 1.

According to CP Oyeniyi, operatives tracked and arrested the suspects during coordinated operations across Bayelsa and Imo states. The suspects have been identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Prince will, and Amadi Felix Chibuike.

‘’The first suspect Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was arrested in Bayelsa on the 4th of May 2026 alongside his friend and roommate whose phone he used as a means of communication to purchase the gun. Emmanuel revealed that he bought the gun from one Amadi Princewill for the sum of Two Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira (N290,000) and sold the gun to one Desmond (at large) for the sum of Three Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (N380,000) who in turn way billed it to Effurun and contacted Oghenemine Ogidi (now deceased) to collect it and send to Sapele. Following the confession of Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, the second suspect Amadi princewill was trailed and arrested in Imo State on 15th of May 2026.  Upon the arrest of Amadi Princewill, and on interrogation, he stated that he bought the gun from one Amadi Felix for the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000). Consequently, Amadi Felix was trailed and arrested in Owerri Imo State on 16th may 2026.'' the CP said

On April 26, upcoming musician Oghenemine Ogidi went to an Effurun motor park to pick up a waybill package for a friend, unaware it contained a hidden Beretta pistol. After park operators discovered the weapon, responding police bound Ogidi's hands and feet. Despite viral video showing him weeping and pleading that he was deceived, ASP Nuhu Usman executed the restrained 28-year-old at point-blank range.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to dismantle the remainder of the syndicate.
