Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has addressed Nigerian youths in an open letter, urging them to stop attacking one another online and instead unite in the face of the country's growing insecurity challenges.
Reacting to the recent wave of kidnappings and insecurity across Nigeria, the actress said the pain being experienced by many families is real and should not be turned into an opportunity for blame games and online bullying.
According to her, insulting, criticizing, or tearing others down will not help bring kidnapped victims back home. She stressed that Nigerians need unity now more than ever rather than division and hostility.
Dayo Amusa noted that the real responsibility lies with the criminals carrying out the attacks and kidnappings, not with ordinary citizens who are also victims of a broken system.
She encouraged Nigerians to support affected families, demand action from authorities, and focus their energy on addressing the real problem rather than attacking one another.
The actress also questioned social media users who constantly criticize celebrities for speaking or remaining silent about national issues.
According to her, many of those attacking public figures have not used their own platforms to raise awareness or contribute meaningfully to discussions about the country's security challenges.
She pointed out that everyone has a voice, regardless of the number of followers they have on social media, and urged Nigerians to use their platforms constructively instead of becoming what she described as “keypad warriors.”
Dayo further stated that insecurity and hardship are affecting everyone either directly or indirectly, making it important for citizens to stand together rather than fight among themselves.
She concluded by calling for unity, hope, and collective action, urging Nigerians to channel their anger and frustration toward solving the country's problems instead of turning against one another.
Her message has sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that national challenges require collective responsibility and a united response from citizens.
