Nigerian music star Davido has publicly taken a swipe at the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) National Chairman, MC Oluomo, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the suspension of the union's activities in Osun State.
The dispute began after Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the suspension of NURTW operations across all motor parks in the state. The governor also ordered an immediate halt to the collection of levies by the union and directed security agencies to arrest anyone found operating in the name of the NURTW.
Reacting to the development during the inauguration of a union leadership, MC Oluomo, who was represented by his deputy, rejected the state government's decision. He argued that the Osun State governor does not have the constitutional authority to suspend the activities of the national transport union.
Davido, whose uncle is Governor Ademola Adeleke, publicly backed the governor's decision and mocked MC Oluomo over his English-speaking ability. In a post shared on social media, the singer wrote:
“MC Oluomo wey no fit compose sentence dey talk. Kudosuu.”
The comment quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions online. While many supporters of the Adeleke administration applauded Davido for defending his uncle, others criticized the singer for making personal remarks instead of addressing the issues surrounding the dispute.
The exchange has further intensified the political and public debate over the governor's decision to suspend NURTW operations in Osun State, with both supporters and critics continuing to express differing opinions on the matter.
