The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new service allowing candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results from the comfort of their homes.
The new initiative, which currently covers West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results, is expected to reduce candidates’ reliance on Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for O’Level result uploads, especially during periods when such centres experience heavy patronage.
Under the new arrangement, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ O’Level results directly with the relevant examination bodies before the results are uploaded to their individual JAMB profiles.
The Board said the initiative is part of efforts to make its services easier, faster, safer and more convenient for candidates while eliminating some of the difficulties associated with the traditional manual upload process.
In a statement issued on Monday by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board explained that the new system would also help tackle several problems that candidates have encountered with O’Level result submissions.
According to JAMB, the electronic verification process is expected to reduce cases involving misplaced or mixed-up paper certificates, the submission of unverified or fraudulent results, and mistakes that may occur when candidates manually enter their subjects and grades.
The development is expected to make the O’Level result submission process more convenient for 2026 UTME candidates, particularly by allowing eligible candidates to complete the process without necessarily visiting a CBT centre.
JAMB’s latest move marks another step towards digitising its admission processes and making registration and verification services more accessible to candidates.
