Former Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has vowed that no individual or group will be allowed to intimidate voters during the next election in the state.
Dickson made the declaration in a post on his X platform while reacting to a series of endorsement meetings reportedly held by youth leaders and other stakeholders across Ekeremor Local Government Area in support of his political ambition and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the former governor, more than 300 serving and former youth presidents from communities across Ekeremor have endorsed him, praising his leadership and record of service while also pledging their support for NDC candidates.
Dickson revealed that similar consultations and endorsement meetings were taking place across the senatorial district, involving elders, women and youth leaders, community stakeholders and student groups.
He expressed appreciation to the various youth presidents, community leaders and opinion leaders for their mobilisation and support, saying the endorsements demonstrate confidence in his leadership, the NDC and its candidates.
The former governor noted that the support came despite his absence from Bayelsa for about eight months, explaining that he had been away on national engagements, including efforts to build the NDC from the grassroots.
Dickson said he expects to return to Bayelsa soon, where he plans to personally appreciate his supporters and continue consultations ahead of the commencement of political campaigns.
He also stressed the importance of protecting voters and ensuring that the forthcoming electoral process is free from intimidation, signalling his determination to ensure that voters can exercise their democratic rights without fear.
