Yoruba Nollywood actors and actresses have expressed shock and concern following reports that veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage 4 cancer.
The development came to public attention after his daughter, Kira, shared an emotional video on Monday night revealing that her father is reportedly dealing with the illness and had allegedly been denied chemotherapy by a hospital.
Kira appealed to members of the public to recommend reputable medical or traditional practitioners who could help with her father’s treatment. She, however, clarified that her appeal was not a request for financial donations.
The revelation quickly sparked emotional reactions from Ogogo’s colleagues, who flooded the comments section with expressions of shock, prayers and concern.
Among those who reacted were:
Kemi Afolabi: “Haaa sir”
Seyi Edun: “Jesus”
Faithia Williams: “Haaa”
Muyiwa Ademola: “Omg”
Omowunmi Ajiboye: “Jesus Christ”
Toyosi Adesanya: “Oga mi ooo”
Seliiat: Shared a sad emoji in response to the revelation.
The latest development has also drawn attention to Ogogo’s previous disclosure about his long-running health struggles.
In an earlier interview with Oyinmomo TV, the veteran actor revealed that he had battled a mysterious illness for about seven years. He recalled a period when he could hardly eat anything apart from pap and said he travelled to different places seeking medical treatment and other forms of healing.
The recent report about his health has therefore left fans and colleagues deeply concerned, with many expressing hope for his recovery and calling for appropriate medical attention.
Note: The claims about Ogogo’s current diagnosis and treatment are based on his daughter’s public statement as reported in the supplied material; they should not be treated as an independently verified medical diagnosis.
