Former Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed has acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s strong political position ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying only God could prevent his re-election.
Baba-Ahmed made the statement during an interview with Trust TV, where he discussed Tinubu’s long political career and his journey to becoming president.
According to him, Tinubu spent about 16 years building a strong political base and played a major role in bringing former President Muhammadu Buhari into an alliance ahead of the 2015 presidential election.
Although he noted that he does not completely agree with Tinubu politically, Baba-Ahmed acknowledged the president’s organisational and political achievements.
He said Tinubu “organised for 16 years, not just plan”, stressing that he worked consistently against the odds and successfully brought Buhari, who had previously retired from active politics, into the political alliance.
Baba-Ahmed described Tinubu’s emergence as president in 2023 as an exceptional political achievement, noting that the president succeeded in accomplishing what several other politicians had struggled to achieve.
His remarks come as political activities and alignments begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
