Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has opened up about his wife, Tiwi, revealing that she does not believe in kneeling to greet every elderly person.
Kunle made the revelation during an interview with VJ Adams, where he discussed his marriage and his wife’s approach to showing respect to elders.
According to the actor, Tiwi understands the importance of kneeling when greeting close family members such as her grandparents and parents, but she does not practise the tradition with every elderly person.
Kunle said:
“My wife doesn’t even understand what kneeling means; she can kneel for her grandparents, her parents, but can’t kneel for every elderly person.”
The actor also spoke about how he met his wife and revealed that he had consistently prayed to God while searching for a life partner.
Kunle explained that rather than specifically asking God for a wife, he prayed to be entrusted with one of His daughters whom he would care for and cherish.
He described Tiwi as his best friend, adding that he was ready for marriage but was not desperate to find a partner.
He said:
“My wife is my best friend.”
Speaking about his prayers, Kunle said his favourite prayer is:
“Show me what I don’t know, teach me what I need to know, and help me work with you more.”
The actor explained that he regularly spoke to God during his search for a partner and prayed to meet the woman God had chosen for him.
According to Kunle, he told God:
“Give me your daughter, and I will take care of her.”
He further revealed that he immediately felt Tiwi was the woman he would eventually marry when he first met her.
“I am ready but not desperate. When I saw Tiwi on day one, I knew she would be my wife.”
Kunle’s comments have sparked conversations about traditional ways of showing respect, cultural expectations in marriage and his personal journey of finding his wife.
