It is a sad Wednesday for Nollywood as veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs has reportedly passed away.
The actor’s son, Jacobs Junior, announced the news on social media on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, revealing that his father died earlier in the day.
In the family’s statement, Jacobs Junior described Olu Jacobs as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, while expressing gratitude to God for his life and legacy.
The statement also identified the late actor by his full name, Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, and his popular title, “The Lion of Lufodo.”
The family appealed to bloggers, social media influencers and members of the public to respect their privacy as they mourn the veteran actor.
“It is with gratitude to God for a life well loved and fought that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo. Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs.”
The family further urged the media and social media users to allow them grieve privately during this difficult period.
