“None of Them Can Try It” – Davido Challenges Nigerian Politicians to Explain Their Sources of Wealth After Peter Obi Did

Afrobeats superstar Davido has challenged Nigerian politicians to publicly account for how they acquired their wealth, following former Anambra State governor Peter Obi’s explanation of his business background and financial history.

The singer reacted after journalist Rufai Oseni shared a clip from an interview in which Obi discussed his business career and sources of wealth before venturing into politics.

In the interview, Rufai questioned whether other Nigerian politicians would be willing to provide the public with similar explanations about how they made their money.

He asked:

“Can every Nigerian politician tell us how they made their money like this?”

Reacting to the clip, Davido replied:

“None of them can try it.”

The singer’s comment appeared to suggest that many politicians may not be willing or able to publicly give a detailed account of how they accumulated their wealth.

During the interview, Obi explained that he had established a successful business career before joining politics. He spoke about his dealings with international brands and his interests in the banking sector.

The former governor also addressed questions about his wealth and offshore assets that were linked to the Pandora Papers, maintaining that his wealth was acquired before he entered public office.

Obi further claimed that his involvement in politics had made him financially poorer, although he said he had no regrets about serving in public office.

Davido’s reaction has since sparked conversations online about political accountability, the sources of politicians’ wealth and the importance of transparency among public office holders in Nigeria.
