Mercy Aigbe, a Nollywood actress, and other internet users have responded to a photo of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo kneeling and bowing before the new Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, that has been circulating online.
Olusegun Obasanjo paid respect to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, during his coronation thanksgiving service in Warri earlier yesterday.
Despite their age gap, Obasanjo kneeled before the 37-year-old new monarch, prompting online reactions.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo's display of respect for a reverend monarch is not the first time he has been photographed doing so.
At March 2020, the 84-year-old former president was photographed prostrating for a year in Ago-Oka, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to the 59-year-old Agura of Gbagura, where he also paid homage to the new monarch.
Mercy Aigbe and other social media users praised Obasanjo after seeing the photo, stating that nothing surpasses tradition.
