Veteran Nollywood actor Adebayo Salami, also known as Oga Bello, celebrated his 71st birthday on May 9th, 2023. His son, Sodiq Adebayo, took to social media to express his admiration for his father. Sodiq shared a photo of Oga Bello on Instagram and expressed his gratitude for his father's influence on his life. He also wished his father a long and healthy life. The post garnered a lot of likes and comments from fans and well-wishers, who praised Oga Bello for his significant contributions to the Nigerian movie industry.


Oga Bello's acting career began in 1964 when he joined the Young Concert Party, led by Ojo Ladipo, also known as Baba Mero. The group eventually became the Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group and later transformed into the Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group. Following Ojo Ladipo's passing in 1978, Salami assumed leadership of the group, which propelled him into the spotlight.


He made his debut in the Yoruba film industry with the movie "Ajani Ogun," starring the late Adeyemi Afolayan. Oga Bello also appeared in "Kadara," a film by Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade Love). He gained further recognition through his role in the popular Nigerian comedy series "Comedy Half Hour," where he adopted the stage name Oga Bello.


In 1985, Oga Bello produced his first movie, "Ogun Ajaye," under the Awada Kerikeri banner. Since then, he has been involved in the production, direction, and acting of numerous Yoruba movies.


Additionally, Oga Bello played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners and served as its president. His accomplishments and dedication to the Nigerian film industry have solidified his status as a respected figure in Nollywood.
