Renowned British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, recently shared his wish to see soccer legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo face off in a boxing match.
In an interview available on YouTube, the 33-year-old British heavyweight boxer revealed his desire to see Messi and Ronaldo, known for their intense rivalry on the soccer field, continue their competition in the boxing arena. Joshua, when asked to name two non-boxers he'd like to see engage in a fight solely based on their personalities, promptly suggested 'Ronaldo versus Messi,' effectively bringing one of modern football's fiercest rivalries into a new realm.
When questioned about who he believed would emerge victorious, Joshua confidently picked 'Ronaldo.' He went on to express his admiration for both Messi and Ronaldo, acknowledging Messi's exceptional vision and imagining him executing boxing maneuvers with finesse, but ultimately recognizing that it would be a challenging contest since both athletes are extraordinarily skilled.
However, when pressed to name a non-boxer he'd be willing to face in a crossover fight, Joshua diplomatically stated, 'I got no beef with no one.'
Regarding the idea of stepping into the ring with the Portuguese icon, Joshua declined, stating, 'Nah, I respect Ronaldo.'
