Music promoter Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, who was detained for questioning in connection with the controversial death of musician Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba), seems to be facing mounting pressure for his release from the public.
According to an insider at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Yaba, Lagos, who spoke with The Guardian, since Sam Larry's arrest last week, their phone lines have been consistently ringing. Notably, calls are coming from a prominent traditional leader on the Island whose identity remains confidential, and this individual is pleading with DCP Waheed Ayilara to release Sam Larry.
The sources revealed that this prominent figure assured the police that he could produce Sam Larry whenever needed. However, DCP Ayilara directed the traditional leader to the Commissioner of Police (CP), emphasizing that only the CP has the authority to order Sam Larry's release or otherwise.
The police source clarified that the investigation into the singer's death is still ongoing, and they are actively pursuing other leads in the case.
