A group of armed robbers disrupted a church service at the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost in Johannesburg, South Africa. In a viral video, the pastor was seen preaching when the armed men entered the church, brandishing pistols. They ordered the congregation to lie on the floor and proceeded to rob them of their mobile phones and valuables at gunpoint.
The robbers then forced the pastor to lead them to where the church's money was kept. Following the robbery, the deacon of the church was abducted by the robbers and taken to an undisclosed location.
The Ghana High Commission in Pretoria expressed concern over the incident and assured the Ghanaian community in South Africa that they are working with the church and the South Africa Police Service (SAPS) to secure the safe release and return of the kidnapped deacon. The Commission advised the Ghanaian community to take necessary precautions for their safety and well-being and promised to provide updates on the case as it develops.
