In a notable incident, Calistus Ihejiagwa, a representative of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo State, faced physical removal from the Imo State Collation Centre in Owerri during the early hours of November 12. Ihejiagwa's protest centered on the discrepancy between the results being presented at the collation center and those available on the Result Viewing Portal (IREV).
Expressing concern about the mismatch, Ihejiagwa argued that the collated results from the local government areas did not align with the data on the Result Viewing Portal. Despite indicating his intention to submit a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he encountered resistance from the Returning Officer, Prof Abayomi Fashina. The Returning Officer stated that it was not within his authority to receive petitions.
As Ihejiagwa persisted, his colleagues viewed him as an interruption to the collation process. Consequently, he was forcibly removed from the collation center at 5 am. The incident unfolded as the collation of election results continued, adding a layer of tension and controversy to the electoral proceedings in Imo State.
