"Mohbad Has Been Receiving Threats From Them And By 2022 When He Left The Label, He Wasn’t Stable Again" Mohbad’s Wife, Wunmi Reveals

Omawunmi, the widow of the late promising singer Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has been sharing her insights into her late husband's ordeal with his former label boss, Naira Marley.

During a Coroner's Inquest, Omawunmi explained that she had no knowledge of Naira Marley until Mohbad started talking about him and he gained popularity. She claimed that she had warned him against signing with Naira Marley, suggesting he should only collaborate on a song, but he declined her advice.

According to her, things took a turn for the worse when he wanted to leave the label and requested a change in manager from Naira Marley's cousin, Tunde, to another manager, which the label refused. She disclosed that he started receiving threats from them, and by 2022, when he left the label, he was no longer stable.

Omawunmi stated that he left the label with no money in his account and struggled to start over, relying on his colleague Bella Shmurda, who supported them for three months.

She also revealed that Mohbad attempted to reach out to various artists, but only Bella and Olamide responded. She testified that Mohbad had received a message from Naira Marley on Instagram, inviting him to meet, and despite her advice to only collaborate on a song, he opted to sign a record deal.

In addition, she mentioned that Mohbad had suffered discomfort after receiving an injection administered by a nurse, which led to vomiting. She also described a previous altercation with his friend, Prime Boy, which played a role in the events leading up to his passing. Mohbad had sustained a minor injury during a fight with Prime Boy in Ikorodu on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

This revelation counters claims made by a Nigerian man who challenged Naira Marley over a video showing Sam Larry bullying the late singer. Naira Marley denied involvement and stated that Omawunmi, Mohbad's wife, could attest to the fact that he never met Mohbad after he left the label and never sent any death threats. He suggested that Omawunmi had much to answer for concerning her husband's death, and his deceased father had limited influence.
