Actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has criticized Nigerians for attacking the late singer Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba. Fabiyi took to his social media platform to condemn the online shaming of Aloba, who was accused of being poor and criticized for wearing his late son's clothes.
In a passionate post, Fabiyi argued that the father might be wearing the clothes as a form of mourning, or perhaps Mohbad had bought the same brand for him when he purchased his own. He expressed disapproval of the way Nigerians misjudge Mohbad's father, overlooking his pain and pursuit of justice for his late son.
Fabiyi emphasized that it is not a crime to be poor and criticized the tendency for people to jump to conclusions without understanding the full context. He called the online scrutiny "inhumane and demonic" and highlighted the importance of empathy, especially in the face of grief.
The actor concluded by stating that until someone has experienced the loss of a child in similar circumstances, they don't have the right to dictate how others should grieve. Fabiyi urged people to consider the fear of God, rule of law, human dignity, and human rights protection before making judgments online.
