"I Have Never Been That Girl To Be Disrespectful" Ayra Starr Apologizes To King Sunny Ade For Event Disrespect

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr issues a heartfelt apology to legendary singer King Sunny Ade following the recent backlash she faced for perceived disrespect during an event. The incident, which also involved a snub towards Burna Boy's mother, sparked online criticism.

In a viral video from the event, Ayra Starr, dressed in her distinctive attire, was seen neglecting Burna Boy's mother but subsequently shaking hands with King Sunny Ade. This action raised eyebrows, and several individuals, including actor Adeniyi Johnson and his wife Seyi Edun, deemed it disrespectful.

Taking to Twitter, Ayra Starr explained that poor lighting and nerves hindered her visibility initially, but upon realizing her oversight, she returned to greet everyone properly. She emphasized that she has never been known for disrespect and identifies herself as a proper Yoruba girl.

Her tweet reads: "I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see, but I came back around to greet everyone properly. I have never been that girl to be disrespectful. I’m a proper Yoruba girl, and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted Burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle, and King Sunny Ade."

Ayra Starr's public apology aims to clarify the situation and express remorse for any unintended disrespect towards the legendary King Sunny Ade.
