Ooni’s fourth wife, Olori Ashley, explains why she called her newborn son 'the Crown Prince'

Olori Ashley, the fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has addressed why she referred to their newborn son as the "Crown Prince" in a recent Instagram post. This clarification comes after the title stirred social media discussions, given that the Ooni already has two sons from previous marriages—one with his estranged wife, Olori Naomi, and another with his third wife, Olori Tobi Phillips.

A few days ago, the Ooni and Olori Ashley celebrated the birth of their first child together, a baby boy. The Ooni took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the birth and the blessings they have received.

In her post, Olori Ashley shared a video of herself cradling her baby bump and detailed the significance of the title. She explained that her son is a prince from both his mother’s side and his father’s side. She expressed her deep appreciation for the support she received throughout her pregnancy, which she described as a sacred journey kept private.

Olori Ashley wrote: “Oba tón gbọ ẹkún aládúrà, ẹsẹ Olódùmarè. Thank you, Olodumare, for an amazing pregnancy journey which was very sacred for my husband and me, and successfully kept away from the public, to the glory of Olodumare. To my ever-loving, supportive husband @ooniadimulaife, you are my world, my CROWN JEWEL, Erujeje Adimula Oko Mi, Ikoyi Esho Mi. Nothing compares to your love for me, and I love you forever with every fiber of my being. Thank you to my big sister @ronkegiftobinna for being there for me and keeping my handle busy with old pictures and updates to manage curiosity. Also, thanks to my amazing PA @obanewo_ for holding it down during the last 9 months. Our CROWN PRINCE comes from both sides—mother’s side of Ooni Adagba Royal Compound of Lafogido Ruling House and father’s side of Ooni Agbedegbede Royal Compound of Giesi Ruling House. Otisese.”
