Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has publicly apologized to the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and its president, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin.
This apology comes years after a controversy involving Nkechi and fellow actress Iyabo Ojo, who openly condemned actor Baba Ijesha in 2021 for allegedly defiling the foster daughter of Nigerian comedienne Princess. Their actions sparked tension within TAMPAN, leading to conflicts with members like Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi, who criticized them for publicly denouncing Baba Ijesha.
The fallout escalated when veteran actor Jide Kosoko barred TAMPAN directors from working with Nkechi and Iyabo. Nkechi responded by mocking TAMPAN's decision, accusing the association of "lawlessness" and claiming they were trying to "frustrate people who could feed their entire generation."
Shortly after, Nkechi issued a brief apology, acknowledging her disrespect toward Jide Kosoko and TAMPAN. Recently, during the Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada, Nkechi publicly extended another apology. In a video circulating online, she is seen on her knees with a microphone, sincerely addressing Mr. Latin and TAMPAN. This gesture reflects her desire to mend relations with the association.
