Nigerian clergyman Pastor E. A. Adeboye has garnered widespread praise after publicly apologizing for a past statement regarding tithing. In a video shared online, the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God admitted that his earlier claim—that those who don't pay tithes wouldn't make it to heaven—was incorrect.
Pastor Adeboye clarified that this notion is not supported by the Bible. Instead, he emphasized that the Bible instructs people to "follow peace with all men and holiness," as it is through this that one may see God.
In his apology, he stated, "I'm going to be apologizing for saying, 'If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.' I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible."
His humility and willingness to correct himself have been met with appreciation from many in the Christian community.
I’m apologizing for saying,'If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.' I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, 'Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.
