Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe’s new Netflix movie Lisabi is now streaming, but the couple revealed the production faced major challenges. During an interview on City 105.1 FM, they shared insights into the struggles they overcame while making the film.
Lateef Almost Sold His Car for Funding
Lateef Adedimeji disclosed that the movie's budget exceeded expectations, costing five times more than anticipated. At one point, he considered selling his car to fund the project. Fortunately, he found support from friends who lent him the money instead, saving his car.
Mo Bimpe Took on a Lead Role Last-Minute
Although Mo Bimpe plays the female lead in Lisabi, she wasn’t originally cast for the role. A last-minute change left the couple scrambling when the intended actress became unavailable, forcing Mo Bimpe to step in. She admitted she wasn’t prepared, as she hadn’t trained for the role, making the experience particularly challenging.
Production Costs Were Enormous
Lateef explained that even small scenes were costly, citing a single pool scene that required them to build a pool at the cost of 5 million naira. Despite the hefty expenses, he praised his director’s creativity and the team's dedication to delivering a high-quality production.
Despite these hurdles, Lisabi was completed, and the couple expressed their gratitude for the support they received along the way.
