Actress Ini Edo Mourns Father’s Passing, Receives Outpouring of Support

Award-winning Nollywood actress Ini Edo has announced the heartbreaking loss of her father.

In an emotional Instagram post on Monday, February 24, the actress shared a photo of her late father, describing his passing as the most difficult experience she has ever faced. She expressed deep sorrow, calling him her "greatest cheerleader" and "first love," while noting that heaven had gained an angel.

"This post has been the hardest to make… I have lost my greatest cheerleader… My Beloved Father, My first love," she wrote. "The Heavens have gained an Angel. You will forever remain in my heart. Rest on King."

Ini Edo did not reveal the cause or date of her father’s passing. However, following her announcement, fans, colleagues, and well-wishers flooded her comment section with messages of condolence and support.

Her loss comes just weeks after comedian Bovi mourned the passing of his father, Edward Sagini Ugboma, who passed away peacefully on February 13. Similarly, in December 2024, actress Lala Akindoju announced the death of her father, whom she described as a loving and present figure.

Ini Edo, who started her acting career in 2000, rose to fame in 2004 with her role in World Apart. Over the years, she has featured in numerous Nollywood productions and received multiple awards. Recently, she expanded her career by joining Netflix’s reality TV series Young, Famous & African.

In 2021, the actress welcomed a daughter through surrogacy after experiencing miscarriages and unsuccessful IVF attempts. Now, as she navigates this personal loss, her fans and colleagues continue to rally around her in support.
