Popular Yoruba Nollywood actor and producer Afeez Owo has shared the unexpected journey that led to his marriage to fellow actress Mide Martins.
During a candid interview on Kunle Afod’s YouTube channel, Afeez Owo revealed that neither he nor Mide had any romantic intentions when her mother, the late actress Funmi Martins, passed away. At the time, they were simply close friends who shared ideas and supported each other.
“When her mother died, I didn’t plan to marry Mide, and she didn’t intend to date me either. We were just very close and shared many things,” he recalled.
However, their friendship gradually blossomed into love. Owo explained that he was in another relationship at the time, but his partner ended things in Mide’s presence. Meanwhile, rumors had already begun circulating that they were romantically involved.
“As God would have it, the person I was dating at that time broke up with me in her presence. All that time, there were already rumors that we were dating. But later, after some time, God eventually brought us together, and we got married,” he shared.
Today, Afeez Owo and Mide Martins are among Nollywood’s most admired couples, successfully balancing their marriage and careers in the entertainment industry.
