"My children helped me overcome depression" – Bukky Wright reveals

Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has courageously opened up about her struggle with depression and the key role her children played in helping her recover.

In a recent interview with Teju Babyface, the actress spoke candidly about her battle with depression and how she was prescribed medication to manage her symptoms. However, she revealed that her biggest turning point came from the unwavering support of her children.

According to Bukky Wright, her children not only motivated her but also acted as her biggest critics, always pushing her to be her best. Their advice to prioritize her happiness and embrace life helped her overcome her darkest moments.

Recalling their words, the actress said, “There was a time when I was depressed. Yes, I was taking antidepressants, but my children had to wean me off them. They have always been my number one critics. I don’t know if I should call them my pillar of life, but they know that I have always lived for them. One day, they told me, ‘Iya, you have lived for us all these years; now it’s time to live for yourself. Enjoy yourself and have fun.’”

Bukky Wright expressed deep gratitude for her children, emphasizing how their love and encouragement played a crucial role in her recovery.
