Eucharia Anunobi Opens Up on Coping with the Loss of Her Only Child

Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi, has opened up about how she has been coping with the heartbreaking loss of her only child, Raymond, who passed away in 2017 due to complications from sickle cell disease.

Speaking in a deeply emotional interview on the WithChude podcast, Anunobi revealed that her unwavering Christian faith has been her greatest source of strength. She described how immersing herself in the word of God has helped her find peace despite the devastating loss.

Anunobi, who had Raymond from her past relationship with Charles Ekwu, reflected on how studying the Bible has reshaped her perspective on life and death. She noted that her faith assures her that her son’s spirit is not lost, even though he is physically gone.

"That is one of the things that being born again, being a true Christian, bequeaths you with," she shared. "As you grow in the word, when you read the words of God in the Holy Bible continuously—not just reading it, but meditatively reading and practicing it—you come to understand that life itself is temporary."

The actress further explained that she has come to terms with the reality that life on earth is fleeting, and material possessions are not worth obsessing over.

"Those things people are clamoring for are only temporary; there is no need to kill yourself over them. So when you lose a loved one, yes, you feel the pain, but when you have grown in the word of God, you realize that the body is gone, but the spirit is not gone."

Anunobi expressed her gratitude for the memories she shared with her son, which she treasures dearly. She stated that she finds comfort in the knowledge that she will one day reunite with him in the afterlife.

"The comfort I have as a single parent who lost her only child is that I know he is not truly gone. Yes, he is gone physically, and I miss him, but I know the beautiful treasures of memories I have in my heart. And because the word of God says I will see him again, I am at peace."

Her words resonated deeply with many listeners, who praised her strength and resilience in the face of such an irreplaceable loss.
