“I took care of many kids, but I have no child to celebrate my 60th birthday.” – Veteran Actress Dupe Jayesimi Opens Up About Childlessness

Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress, Dupe Jayesimi, has shared her emotional struggles with childlessness and a failed marriage. Speaking in a heartfelt interview with Biola Bayo on the Talk to B podcast, the veteran actress opened up about the painful experiences that shaped her life.

Jayesimi revealed that before her marriage, she became pregnant but unfortunately lost the baby to a miscarriage. This tragic loss created tension in her marriage, leading to emotional distance from her husband, who would even use a pillow to divide their bed.

She further shared that after her marriage ended, her husband wasted no time in moving on and brought his pregnant girlfriend into their matrimonial home just two weeks later. This experience left her heartbroken and led her into depression and alcohol use — something she had never indulged in before.

At age 40, Jayesimi got pregnant again, but doctors discovered the pregnancy was developing at the back of her womb, leaving her devastated. She admitted that at that point, she questioned God.

Despite her struggles with conception, the actress said she dedicated herself to raising other children, including those of relatives and friends. Sadly, many of these children have turned their backs on her in her time of need.

Jayesimi also shared that she attempted IVF twice, but both efforts failed, leaving her feeling hopeless. Despite all these hardships, she continues to hold on to faith, expressing hope that as long as she is alive, there is still a chance for better days.

"I know how it feels to be celebrated by your own child, but I have never experienced it," she said. "Still, I believe that where there is life, there is hope."

She also prayed not to suffer in old age, revealing that she hasn’t been called for acting work in seven years, and theatre no longer pays as it once did.

Her story has moved many fans, with messages of sympathy, encouragement, and prayers flooding social media.
