Veteran Nollywood actress Morenike Alausa Sulaimon, popularly known as Mama Ereko, has opened up about her decision to remain single after the loss of her husband. She explained that choosing not to remarry has helped her maintain her beauty and avoid the stress that often comes with marriage.
In an interview on Talk2dunnis TV’s official YouTube channel, the Yoruba film star revealed that staying unmarried has allowed her to preserve her elegance despite aging. According to her, the pressures of marriage and intimacy can make a woman look older than her actual age.
“If I had remarried, you wouldn’t be praising me for still looking elegant and beautiful at my age. I didn’t remarry because the stress of having intercourse makes you look older than your age,” she stated.
Mama Ereko also emphasized that she has become so independent over the years that she no longer feels the need for a man in her life. She explained that she has taken on both parental roles for her children and has no desire to remarry.
“I’m already a man, so I don’t need a man again because I don’t even remember how it feels to have intercourse with a man,” she added.
Reflecting on her past, the actress recounted how her late husband frequently disrespected their marriage by bringing other women into their home. She recalled an instance where he sent her on an errand just to have another woman stay over.
“Whenever my husband saw a lady he liked, he would send me on an errand so he could bring her home. There was one particular day he brought one of his many girlfriends home to sleep with her. I got angry, but I dared not challenge him,” she revealed.
Her revelations have sparked discussions online, with many praising her for prioritizing her peace of mind and independence.
