Sam Larry Denies Harassment Allegations in Mohbad's Death, Testifies at Coroner’s Inquest

Popular show promoter Sam Larry has denied all allegations of harassment and assault in connection to the late singer Mohbad, during his appearance at the coroner’s inquest investigating the artist's mysterious death.

Sam Larry’s name came under intense public scrutiny after a viral video surfaced, allegedly showing him confronting Mohbad, fueling widespread speculation about his involvement in the singer’s tragic passing.

Testifying before the court, Sam Larry clarified that his relationship with Mohbad was purely professional, stating that he only engaged the singer for show promotions and performances. He claimed that issues began when Mohbad failed to perform at a show in Dubai, despite Larry allegedly spending over ₦20 million on event logistics.

According to Sam Larry, Mohbad owed him ₦2 million from the canceled show. He said he tried to reach the singer multiple times to request a refund, both through Instagram messages and via his lawyer, but got no response.

“I am a show promoter. The only relationship I had with Mohbad was to give him shows. I never harassed or molested him. I have never beaten him before,” he testified.

He also recounted a widely-discussed June 2023 encounter at Elegushi Beach, during a music video shoot, where tensions flared between him and Mohbad. Sam Larry claimed that Zlatan Ibile, another music artist, intervened and helped resolve the situation peacefully. He firmly denied allegations that he attacked Mohbad or destroyed any equipment, as previously stated in a petition by the late singer.

During the inquest, Sam Larry insisted that those who were closest to Mohbad in his final days might hold the key to understanding the events that led to his death.

“Till he died, he didn’t pay my ₦2 million. He died three months after we met at Elegushi. They know what really happened to him,” he said.

The inquest continues as the public and Mohbad’s fans await justice and answers regarding the singer’s controversial death.
