Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about how she filmed the award-winning movie Elevator Baby while seven months pregnant with her son, Ireoluwa.
In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, the actress revealed that the movie’s director, Niyi Akinmolayan, was unaware of her pregnancy when he contacted her for the role. At the time, Toyin was keeping the pregnancy private.
She explained that when Niyi offered her the role, he mentioned a scene that required her to appear pregnant, not knowing she was actually expecting. Toyin then asked him to get her husband’s approval before she could commit to the role.
Filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan later visited her home to speak with her husband, actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, who gave his full support. He even joined her on set to support her throughout the production.
To ensure her health and safety, Toyin had two nurses on set attending to her. Despite the stress of filming while heavily pregnant, she said the experience was intense but enjoyable.
Toyin also clarified that the movie was produced by Antar Hills, not her personal production.
Her son, Ireoluwa, who she was pregnant with during the shoot, will turn six this August.
