The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has dismissed reports claiming that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo was declared wanted.
In a statement shared on its official Instagram page, the Force described the viral “wanted” poster of the actress as fake and misleading. The police made it clear that the poster did not come from their platform and urged Nigerians to disregard it.
The NPF further advised the public to always verify news only from their official channels before sharing.
Their statement read in part:
“FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigerian Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard & stop spreading fake news. Verify only from official NPF channels.”
This clarification comes just days after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invited Iyabo Ojo for questioning. The actress revealed that EFCC officials showed her videos from her daughter’s recent white wedding in Nigeria, where guests were seen spraying both naira and foreign currencies.
Ojo explained that she thought only the abuse or mutilation of the naira was a crime. However, the commission enlightened her about the laws against spraying money.
